Important Safety Information Regarding the Compounded Bundle
Please be aware that compounded drugs are not FDA-approved and do not undergo clinical studies to evaluate for safety and efficacy. Your healthcare provider may prescribe these compounded medications based on your medical consultation.
The Cellular Wellness Bundle is three separate compounded medications — NAD+, glutathione and Lipo-C — prescribed together as one plan. Every contraindication, precaution and risk that applies to any one of them applies to the bundle. Read all three sections below in full before starting. Taking three medications together also means more injections, more injection sites, and more opportunity for a reaction, so tell your provider about every medication, supplement and allergy you have.
None of the three is appropriate if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, or if you have an active or suspected malignancy.
NAD+
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every cell that participates in normal cellular energy metabolism and repair. Do not use if you have had an allergic reaction to NAD+ or nicotinamide. Tell your provider if you have liver or kidney disease, low blood pressure or a heart or circulatory condition, diabetes or impaired glucose tolerance, a history of gout or elevated uric acid, or take niacin or another form of vitamin B3.
Serious risks: serious allergic reactions; chest tightness or difficulty breathing during or shortly after a dose; drops in blood pressure with light-headedness or fainting.
Common side effects: flushing, warmth, chest tightness, nausea, stomach cramping, headache, light-headedness and fatigue — most often related to how quickly a dose is delivered rather than the dose itself.
Administration: inject subcutaneously on the schedule your physician sets, slowly and with aseptic technique. Do not inject faster to save time.
Glutathione
Glutathione is a tripeptide produced naturally in the body and used by cells as a primary antioxidant. Do not use if you have G6PD deficiency, uncontrolled asthma or a prior bronchospasm reaction, an active infection or fever, or a known allergy to glutathione. Tell your provider if you have liver or kidney disease, asthma or any chronic lung condition, or are receiving chemotherapy or another antioxidant therapy.
Serious risks: severe allergic reactions including anaphylaxis; bronchospasm or worsening asthma; hemolytic anemia in people with G6PD deficiency.
Common side effects: injection-site pain, redness or swelling, headache, light-headedness, flushing, nausea, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea and fatigue.
Administration: inject subcutaneously on the schedule your physician sets, slowly and with aseptic technique, rotating sites.
Lipo-C
Lipo-C is a compounded lipotropic injection, commonly containing choline, inositol and methionine with B vitamins such as cyanocobalamin (B12). It is not a weight-loss medication. Do not use if you have had an allergic reaction to any component including cobalt or vitamin B12, or if you have homocystinuria or another disorder of methionine metabolism. Tell your provider if you have liver or kidney disease, Leber’s hereditary optic neuropathy, or low potassium.
Serious risks: serious allergic reactions including anaphylaxis; injection-site infection or abscess; falls in potassium following correction of a B12 deficiency.
Common side effects: injection-site pain, redness, itching or swelling, mild stomach upset, nausea, loose stools, flushing, headache, and a temporary metallic or fishy taste or body odour associated with choline.
Administration: inject subcutaneously or intramuscularly on the schedule your physician sets — commonly weekly — with aseptic technique, rotating sites.
Taking all three
Administration: these are three separate injections. Do not combine them in one syringe unless your physician specifically directs it. Rotate the site with every dose, and follow the schedule your physician sets for each.
Monitoring: your provider may order laboratory work before or during treatment and will review how you are responding at scheduled check-ins.
